What a Weekend!

Best. Reunion. Ever.

Bruce Hobson

My wife and I both had a great experience.  The only thing I would have changed might have been to start the party at NOON so I could have enjoyed 5 more hours of great conversation with wonderful friends.  On the drive home, my wife and I discussed the many people we had met and talked to and I tried to explain my history with each one. At one point I "teared-up" a bit as I thought about how genuinely happy everyone was to see me and how warm and comfortable I felt towards them, even after not seeing most of them for 40 or 50 years.  This was an experience that none of us could have created alone and that is where you and your committee come into the picture. Again, thank you all so much for your efforts and for caring enough to make reunions a reality.

P.S.  Maybe a 55 year reunion might be a good idea.  None of us are getting

       any younger!!

Gary Hale

I wholeheartedly agree...more time needed to reconnect. Props to the Committee for going above and beyond!

Tim Loughman

Firstly, my thanks, too, to Shelley, Shirley and Martha and everyone else who had a hand in organizing a really lovely reunion, for doing the work and for letting me crash the party. (I never actually went to Miramonte. My dad got transferred to Toledo, Ohio, in 1964. About the closest I got to Miramonte was going with Cres Gilbert and his sister Vinnie to watch their brother, Jack, play basketball there circa 1959-61.)

Margaret Yee Yuen

I think I made more friends at the reunion than I did my four years at Miramonte!! Kudos to the planning committee, donors, and benefactors. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I wish I could have taken the campus tour on Friday to spend more time with you all.  BTW Ray (my photog/chauffeur (he drove me in his Porsche)) was NOT my husband but a friend that I have known for 35 years. His son and my daughter attended Kindergarten at Glorietta Elem. when I lived in Orinda in the early 80's. I now live in the house Shelley lived in (in Palos Verdes) when she was 13 years old!!

Looking forward to the next reunion MHS68. I have some photos posted on Facebook if you want to take a look.

Next year, we can celebrate our 55th anniversary of graduation junior high school (1964)

In 2021, we can celebrate 60 years since we left elementary school (no graduation from Sleepy Hollow, as I recall) (1961).

Could have celebrated the 60th anniversary of preschool graduation two years ago in 2016.

Or in two years, we can celebrate most of us turning 70.

I am still processing the reunion weekend and agree that the committee did an incredible job. I wish that I had gotten to talk with more people but did enjoy those whom I was able to have a few minutes to share what had happened over the last 50 years.

Thanks to all of you on the planning committee. You put together a wonderful event.

Keep the pictures coming.

It only took me 50 years to attend a reunion, and I'm so glad I chose to come to this one!  As one who made a career out of event planning, my hat is off to the committee for organizing such a great evening.  Robin's group emails were a brilliant idea, and a wonderful prelude to the big event.

I especially loved looking into long lost faces, and the hugs that followed the dawning recognition of our younger selves after nametag confirmations.  Reconnecting with old friends was the best part for me, and I only wish we could have had much more time together. What a super bunch of classmates we are who have all lived such interesting and successful lives!

Thanks to you all for welcoming me so warmly.  I hope we'll be able to get together again before we are all too doddery to make it😜.

Although I wasn't there in person, I kind of feel like I was part of what my bridge partner calls our cyber reunion.  Technology blows my mind. Most of the time in a really good way.

But I would like to participate in the wheelchair race at the next in person one.

I agree,  a Great Party and so much Fun🎈so happy and honored to spend time together!  a group photo would be great!

Next Time for sure 😎  Thank You!

What a whirlwind weekend. Great to talk with as many of you as I did...not nearly enough time.

Krissy Kay Maita

Shirley and I have been talking every day about how much fun we had at the reunion. One thing we wish we had done was take a group photo...like we did at the 20th.

Nice to be home in AZ but wishing we could do it all over again...went by much too fast.

Bruce Paltenghi

Thanks to all that did so much work for 2 great evenings. I had a wonderful time and enjoyed seeing everyone after so many years. Made me realize the importance of high school and the last time grade school friends are together before moving on, college and starting a family. This weekend brought us back to that earlier bond. My daughter teaches American government, history and art history in a public HS in Az. I have shared this thought with her and hope she might impress that upon her students.

Again thanks and great to see all of you. See you in 5 or less.

Betsy Strong Coover

Loved seeing everyone too- never enough time to visit!

Five years for sure!!!

Sweet dreams are made of nights like this...Mahalo and best wishes to all y’all

The BEST reunion yet!

The weekend was way too short. There were so many people I didn’t get to talk to and conversations that didn’t get finished.

A salute to the Class of 68. You’re the best.

Steve Young

Great gathering. Only wish I’d been able to talk to more people. I agree with Greg Smith:  let’s do it again in 5.

Greg Smith

How about next time we’ll all be 73!!!   Live it up.

Pam Rudd

It was so much fun! Thanks to all of you who put such a great evening together - next time we’ll be 78. I hope you all are there.

Kris Kelley

I was really delighted to see you all at the reunion. My two regrets are that I didn’t have more time to talk to most of you and that I didn’t know some of you better when we were in school together. I missed out. I think we have a pretty wonderful class. Thank you to Shelley for being our leader and putting this event together. I thought it was a great party! It just flew by too quickly. Maybe we need a reunion week next time so we can spend quality time together. Hope to see you all again soon,

P.S. I think my favorite moment was just quietly looking around and seeing all your familiar faces after 50 years. I also loved talking to Mr. McCain.

Just wanted to echo all the great comments- thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend so special. Wonderful to see everyone, and have a deep think about what it was like in Orinda ( and the world) in 1968. Great reconnecting and sharing all the stories. Also such a blast from the past having people use my maiden name

Kay Lindley Merrell

Thank you to the reunion committee and to Robin for organizing such a remarkable weekend.  The photos and stories leading up to the reunion helped make the actually getting together more special. Thanks too to everyone who came.  For me, it brought back many happy memories, but I doubt many of us realized at the time what a pivotal year 1968 would end up being. I am especially happy to have reconnected with good friends from 50 years ago.  I hope to do a better job of staying in touch this go round.

Sandy Roycraft Romaidis

Yes, huge thanks to the reunion committee. You all did a fantastic job, and our reunion sounds like it was way more fun than reunions that friends have attended. All the emailing and sharing that occurred before the reunion was the secret ingredient.

I don't think I've hugged so many people in one day in my life. I also wish that I could have talked to more people. As I left, I kept thinking..."oh, I didn't talk to ... I spoke with ... but didn't have a chance to ask ...I wish I could see ... again to talk about ..."

I feel humbled and proud to have graduated with such an amazing group of kind, interesting and accomplished people.

Steve Dupuis

I will echo Gayle's words.  WHAT A BLAST!! We do truly have a special thing going and seeing everyone was an absolute joy. Thank you everyone who came for making the reunion such a memorable night…

Deni Bleuel

I echo Gayle.  What a fun weekend!  Just not enough time!  Kudo, kudos and kudos to the fantastic committee for all your hard work.  The service at both venues was excellent, along with the food and of course both settings were lovely.  How about we make it a tradition to meet at the Fourth Bore the last Saturday evening in September if you can?  Just a thought.

Jenny Peake Kolkhorst

But, I agree with Gayle (with whom I did connect!)—that was a wonderful occasion,  which we can all hold in our hearts, until our little grey cells fade away. It was wonderful to see everyone and talk with those we could—so many more people to talk to!

Let’s meet again soon!

Sue Shabel Brix

My husband and I had a great time Saturday night!  We did need more time for stories, life experiences, etc!  Thank you, again, to all on the committee! It was truly appreciated.  I’m glad I was able to attend the high school tour and Friday night’s activities. Hope we can keep this email chain going for many years!

Holly Sweet

I feel the same way! It was an emotional and joy filled evening!

Everyone I got to connect with had such interesting stories and  Buoyant Spirit!

I missed having more time with old friends and possible new ones!

I loved seeing my Old Art teacher ...Mr. Michael Grbich...I was his aide ,senior year!

He's still painting and tap dancing across bridges! He was sweet to dance for us to Aretha!

Gayle Miller

I had an absolute blast at the weekend’s reunion activities. I wish I could have connected with more of you because I know we would have felt like 50 years hadn’t passed and we would’ve been engrossed in each other’s stories just like I was with those I did reconnect with. We have a special thing and I hope our contact info is published so we can maintain this familiarity for the rest of our lives.  We just rock is all I can say!
