All my best wishes to everyone. Thanks to all who have made this event happen. I look forward to seeing everyone. Not sure how we got to 50 so fast. Seems not too long ago walking the halls. Very sad so many have passed. Thanks and best wishes to all, Bruce

My dear Miramonte classmates!

I hope this message finds you all well and having a great time at our 50th Anniversary Reunion!  I was so looking forward to joining you, I even reserved my ticket early and marked my calendar right away… but, alas, it wasn’t meant to be: back in April I suffered a heart attack as massive as it was unexpected and from which very fortunately I came out alive and well; but I’m still recuperating from it and my doctors feel I shouldn’t be flying around yet, much less having a blast with my old school mates thousands of miles away… no matter how “groovy” I feel!

My main reason for wanting to be there with you at this wonderful celebration was in order for me personally to express to all and each and every one of you my deepest sense of gratitude and affection for the incredibly warm and hospitable manner by which you all received me in your midst and the super-friendly way you included me among yourselves without difference or exception. For this, I have been continuously indebted to you over the last five decades and, with God’s help, I shall remain so indebted for a few more decades to come! (cross my fingers J)

I don’t write these words lightly, believe me. You probably have no idea what an important role my AFS experience in Orinda has played in the rest of my life.  First and foremost,  my life in the home of Mr & Mrs David E. Hennigh (Julie; Mark and Mindy) afforded me a truly unique opportunity to experience first hand the day to day life of a modern California family, and to do so as just another son and sibling. My favorite time of the day was lingering over the dinner table, when the conversation would turn to issues of American values, history, culture etc and the inevitable comparisons with the Old Continent where I came from. The Hennigh’s took me in and loved me like one of their own, and that loving feeling was mutual throughout the years and continues to be so.

And then was you, and the school, and the wonderful faculty…  I do remember all with kindness and affection in my heart.   Finally, I understand that some of our classmates are no longer with us. I join you in their Memory with our reflection and prayers

With all my love,
Vicente García-Delgado

PS, Oh, there were several times when I acted either silly, stupid, insensitive or all of the above. Don’t say “no” because I know, and I’ve been embarrassed ever since.  One of those times landed me in the Principal’s office. This is my opportunity to apologize to anyone I ever offended.

Hi, Classmates,

Just wanted to let you know I will once again attend.  I'm excited about yet another chance to connect and at the Country Club besides.
